Terms of use: how RestfulPicks may be used, and why it is not medical advice

1. Reading RestfulPicks

RestfulPicks publishes top lists, reviews, comparisons and how-tos about sleep accessories. These terms apply to every page; if you disagree with them, please stop using the site.

2. General information, not medical advice

Our guides compare sleep accessories on comfort, fit, light, noise and care. They are general information for choosing a product, not medical advice, and no substitute for advice from a doctor or another qualified professional who knows your health.

• No product on this site is said to treat, cure or prevent a sleep disorder such as insomnia or sleep apnea, or any other condition.
• For lasting trouble sleeping, ear pain, fullness, ringing, hearing changes or skin problems, talk to a doctor before you rely on a product.
• Health and safety notes are quoted from their named sources. Cleveland Clinic, for example, lists frequent earplug use as a risk factor for earwax buildup, and Sleep Foundation notes that muffled sound can make an alarm harder to hear.
• Use every product as its maker directs: Mack's and OHROPAX, for instance, say never to push putty or wax into the ear canal.

3. How a guide is made

A guide summarizes what owners report in store reviews and public forums and what makers state on their pages, datasheets and packaging. We don't run a lab, so a guide reports no test of ours. The editor sets the order of a list, and the page says so. See how we pick.

4. Maker figures and accuracy

Noise ratings, momme, sizes and materials are the makers' own figures, credited to them. Makers rename, change and stop selling products, so check the label and the store's listing before you buy. We re-check every list once a quarter and fix errors we are told about, but we can't promise that every figure is current at every moment.

5. No prices here, and why

We print no prices, because they change faster than a guide can. The store shows the current price and stock when you follow a "Check price" link, and the store's own terms apply to anything you buy there.

6. Quotes from owners

A quote on RestfulPicks is an owner's own words, kept as written and on file with its source. It is that owner's view, not ours and not a promise about your experience. Only the person who wrote a quote can ask for it to change or come down.

7. Store buttons

Store buttons open the store; none earns us anything yet. A link to another site is not an endorsement of it. Details are in our disclosure.

8. Our content

Our words, page designs and drawings belong to RestfulPicks or to those who license them to us. Photos come from Pexels and Unsplash under their free licenses, with their photographers named below. Linking to any page is welcome, and so is quoting a sentence or two with a link back to its page. Copying whole guides, or republishing them under another name, is not.

Product and brand names, such as Loop, Howard Leight, Mack's, Alpine and OHROPAX, belong to their owners. We use them to name the products we write about, which doesn't mean those brands endorse RestfulPicks.

11. Liability

RestfulPicks is provided as it is, for general information. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for decisions you make or products you buy based on it. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that the law does not allow us to limit.

12. Changes to these terms

When these terms change, the "In effect since" date at the top of this page changes with it, and the new terms apply from that day.
